The Fabric

This cotton lycra is incredibly soft and easy to sew with.  Its classic colour makes it a versatile fabric choice for all seasons and its medium weight of 220g also allows it to be the perfect choice for so many different garments.  The cotton lycra range at Sew Unique Fabrics also has a subtle drape to it, which many of the European knits don’t have. As a sewer of all ages, I find this ideal for kids and adult garments.  The quality of this fabric also allows it to glide through my machines making the sewing process a very enjoyable one.

The pattern

I chose to create a simple yet classic style with this fabric by making one of Pattern Emporium’s popular creations, the ‘Crush on Me Tee Dress’.  This dress has simple capped sleeves, a timeless boat neckline and an even hemline. The pattern comes with a variety of choices for necklines and hems, so you can create something that totally suits you.  It can be worn with or with the belt and is the perfect dress for all seasons.  Leggings or stockings can be worn for the cooler months or like here, a casual look can be achieved with a pair of sandals.  I made a medium size dress and this was created with just 1 metre of SUF fabric.
