?Grace? Floral
The fabric
I have tried so many different cotton lycras in my time sewing, but I have to say that SUF is my favourite (I know I may be biased, but it?s true!) It feels so lovely and soft and is amazing quality! Clothes I have made for my biggest girl have been loved so very much, then passed down to my littlest and are still in great condition!
This beautiful floral is no exception and the colours are just so vibrant with amazing detail that you can only truly appreciate in person! The pink in the flowers is a perfect match with the SUF ?Berrilicious? solid (which I have used in the bow centres on the back of the dress) and although the purple background of this floral is brighter than the SUF ?Elusive Eggplant? solid ? I still used it for the lining and it looks great!
The pattern
?Aria?s Bow Back Top & Dress? by Simple Life Pattern Co.
I had so many dress patterns to choose from to make up this fabric ? but it took me so long to decide, as I knew that I had to make it special! (This fabric is named after Jess?s eldest daughter after all!) I normally steer clear of ruffles when I can, as we have a love-hate relationship (love how they look, hate doing them!) – but I knew that I had to pull out all the bells & whistles for this one to do it justice. I decided in the end to go with the ?Aria? dress which I hadn?t made as a strike sew since the Floral Dinos in March 2018! I have made many of these for my daughters since then, however not with the ruffle hem or the flutter sleeves ? but I knew I had to do both to really show off just how pretty and feminine this floral is. I am so in love with the surprise bow back of this pattern too! I love extra details on my Mummy-made clothes, even if they take a little longer to do ? they are so worth it to see my girl?s faces when I show them the finished product. This is a size 5 (I tend to size up for this pattern, so it?s not too tight on my girl?s bellies) and I made it with 1m of fabric (there?s over 4m x 5inches of fabric joined together with all those ruffles) and I still had a little left over for some matching undies (because with all the twirling she is going to do in this dress ? she has to have matching undies to show off, of course!)
