Princess and Unicorn

The Fabric:

My girls have an envious wardrobe thanks to SUF. The cotton lycra is to die for, so soft and buttery and exceptional quality, and always available in to die for prints! The Unicorn Princess is no exception! Every little girls dreams of dancing with rainbow unicorns and I can see many little ones twirling in the Unicorn Princess Dresses! The are many CL Solids that coordinate perfectly with this print. I have used Lille Lilac along with SUF Powder Blue Ribbing. If you haven’t tried the ribbing yet, it’s a must it adds such a professional finish to your garment.

The Pattern:

I chose to make two versions of the Tadah Dolman to match each of my girls personality. Miss 7 is all about crop tops at the moment and Miss 5 is still willing to wear what mum tells her, so we went with a dolman in dress length. Both of these items were made in size 6 and using just one metre of fabric, with some left over. The Dolman Pattern is such a simple and quick knit sew. I would highly recommend this for a beginner, it also has the option for long sleeves, and a tee length so can be work in any season.

Pre-washing is not essential but recommended

Pre wash in cold water on a gentle cycle
Add a tablespooon of salt to the wash – this helps seal the colour within the fabric thus reducing fading.
Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. the liquid will freshen up your laundry and help colours maintain their intensity.
Dryer use is not recommended – as the heat will eventually cause fabrics to fade.
Line dry without delay – inside out, away from direct sunlight

Shrinkrage rate is approximately 3-5%. All fabric has been preshrunk, however additional shrinkage may occur.
